Key Points

Watch the episode below to find out about :

  • Factors that contribute to how long a roof will last,
  • Warning signs that you need a new roof sooner rather than later, and
  • What can be done about it.

Brief Summary

At the end of the day, most of your local roofing companies roofers can only make an educated guess as to how long your existing roof may last. Four factors which can impact the longevity of your existing metal roof are:

  • The pitch of your roof
  • How well it has been maintained
  • The age
  • Weather conditions that it has endured

Often by the time you have noticed evidence of a problem with your roof (rust, water marks or mould on your ceiling, leaks, etc)the damage has been underway for awhile. If the warning signs are ignored or left undetected for long enough you may find yourself with not only the roof requiring work but the additional cost of associated repairs.

We recommend that if in doubt, it’s best to have your roof inspected by a reputable roofing company who can make recommendations on repairs that may buy you some time or potentially suggest a full metal roof replacement.

In the meantime, preventative measures and maintenance such as cleaning out the valleys and gutters of your roof will help prolong your roof’s lifespan.
