Gutters move water away from your home. When looking at your roof, it’s a good idea to also assess the condition of your gutters. Some signs that your guttering needs to be looked at by a professional are:
It is important to contact an expert straight away as gutters in poor condition can result in further damage to your home. Vantage Point Roofing are highly experienced in replacing guttering of any type, shape, size or colour, and are happy to discuss available options with you.
Having your roof replaced is also the perfect opportunity to insulate. A well-insulated roof contributes significantly to the comfort of your home; reducing noise and controlling condensation whilst reducing cooling and heating bills.
The main types of insulation are:
1. Sarking
Sarking is like an aluminium foil paper, used often with tile roofs
2. Anti-condensation blanket
Commonly referred to as ‘Anticon’ or ‘Builder’s blanket’, this product type combines glasswool and a reflective foil. This is the most common insulation type found in residential properties.
3. Air-cell Blanket
Air-cell is a fibre free option with two layers of silver foil with air pockets throughout. This is the most expensive option.
Vantage Point Roofing are knowledgeable about and have installed all types of insulation and are able to make recommendations to you that suit your roofing insulation needs.
Often overlooked, the replacement of downpipes should be considered when having your roof and guttering assessed.
It’s worth considering whether your house has adequate drainage and via downpipes, as inadequate drainage can lead to your gutters overflowing and subsequent damage to your home. If you are unsure, Vantage Point Roofing can assess the situation and make recommendations to ensure your home roofing system manages wet weather in the most effective way possible.
Gutter guard is an important consideration when selecting extras for your new roof.
Gutter Guard or Leaf Guard are most commonly a screen of plastic, aluminium or stainless steel and are designed to cover the top of the gutter and stop leaves and foliage from entering the gutter. This is very important as it allows for proper drainage – protecting not just your gutters, but your home as well.
We can discuss your gutter guard options with you, arrange to have a gutter guard installed to suit your needs when replacing your gutters.
Whirlybirds are the most common type of residential roofing ventilation. They are wind powered ventilation systems used to remove air from a ceiling space in the home. When wind starts to spin the whirlybird, the heat from inside the roof is pulled out through the vent helping the home to cool down and reduce moisture.
Apart from moderating the ceiling temperature in summer, roof ventilators work just as efficiently in winter. They help keep the roof cavity dry of moisture and condensation caused from bathroom fans, avoiding the mould and mildew that can grow onto ceilings.
Keep in mind that roof ventilators are not suitable for all roof types. Please feel free to ask us whether whirly birds would be beneficial for your home.
Skylights are a great way to let natural light into your home. If you have dark hallways and corners or limited windows, the installation of a skylight can make a massive impact to not only the functionality, but also the aesthetics of your living spaces.
Instead of merely being practical, skylights are also on trend in building design and architecture. They really are one of the best ways to highlight and brighten certain features within the home. Often, they become a feature themselves!
The best time to install skylights is either when you are building a home or replacing your roof. Vantage Point Roofing can quote to have skylights added to your new roof, as your roof placement experts.
